Luxapana Waterfall on the way to Adams Peak

The 6th highest in the island, Luxapana is one of the most fascinating water falls in Sri Lanka situated in Maskeliya area on the way to Adams Peak and about 100m in height. You could reach there travelling either from Colombo or Kandy, easiest route is to get the right turn at Watawala to reach Norton Bridge (about 10km). From Watawala you have to travel along Maskeliya road for about 8 k.m.

When you traveling on Maskeliya road to Adams Peak you will see the falls downside of the road with a tea factory. Proceed about another 1 k.m on main road and then take a right turn to an tea estate looking road which reach to Kitulgala. Travel for about another 1 k.m and you will see the foot steps down about 300m walk down with 908 steps to reach the Luxapana Waterfall and the hidden caves with limeston creations.

To get the best view of the waterfall always go to the bottom of the fall. You will find a nice nature pond and scenic, attractive, picturisque, Luxapana water fall view for amazing nature expierince. You could get a cold river bath as well. When you are travelling in the Maskeliya area, do not forget to visit Aberdeen falls in Ginigathhena, Castlereagh, the fascinating Reservoir, secenic Maussakelle reservoir as well.

The Luxapana Waterfall formed by Maskeliya Oya near the confluence of Kehelgamuwa Oya and Maskeliya Oya which forms Kelani River. The Falls gives birth to twin hydroelectricity genrator stations. This is the first ever hydroelectricity projects in the history of Sri Lanka, Laxapana which generates 50MW of electricity and New Laxapana which generates 100MW.
